Customs Broker: What is it and what does it do?

With existence in Brazil since 1808, brought by the Portuguese Royal Family, the profession of Customs Broker is one of the oldest registered in the country, and even so it causes strangeness or doubts about its activities. With this in mind, V.Santos decided to clarify some doubts about this one, which is one of the most important for anyone who permeates the national logistics or foreign trade market. Check it out below.

What is a Customs Broker?

The customs broker is the professional appointed by the importer or exporter to be the official representative of the company, responsible for presenting to Customs everything that is in charge of the transported goods, in accordance with pre-established documentation and tax rules.

In Brazil, due to the complexity of the rules, laws and fines, this service is very necessary for all types of import or export transactions, either because of the high volume transported or the amount of bureaucracy required for each type of merchandise.
